Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-02) announced this week that has been appointed as the Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on the U.S. House Committee on Appropriations.

“It is an honor to be appointed Chairman of the House Appropriations Homeland Security Subcommittee,” he said. “I thank Chairman Cole and my colleagues on the Committee for trusting me with this responsibility.”

According to Amodei, the top priority of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is to protect the American people.

“Today, our nation is facing unprecedented challenges to secure our border, stop illegal crossings, and prevent the flow of drugs into our country. I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure DHS receives the necessary resources to keep our nation safe and secure,” he said.

Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole added "For more than a decade, Congressman Amodei has fought for strong, conservative priorities as a Member of the House Appropriations Committee. I know his commitment to his constituents and the State of Nevada will continue in his new role on the Homeland Security Subcommittee. I look forward to working with him to find ways to address the ongoing crisis at our southern border and provide responsible resources to secure our nation."

The House Appropriations Homeland Security Subcommittee covers funding for the entirety of the Department of Homeland Security, including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, U.S. Customs and Border Control, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the U.S. Secret Service, and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.

Congressman Amodei previously served as the Chairman of the House Appropriations Legislative Branch Subcommittee from January 2023 to April 2024.
