Congratulations to Nevada Future Farmers of America (FFA) students who were awarded honors this week at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis.

Oasis Academy’s FFA Fallon team earned the Bronze Emblem for Farm & Agribusiness Management, with Oasis student Reese Laca receiving a Silver Emblem in Dairy Cattle Handling. Also from Fallon, Churchill County High School’s Madison Gregory, was awarded the Bronze Emblem for Prepared Public Speaking.

Additionally, Diamond Mountain FFA earned a Silver Emblem in Horse Evaluation, Ariana Neyra-Maya with Northwest CTA FFA received a Bronze Emblem in Creed Speaking, and Wells FFA won a Bronze Emblem in the Agricultural Issues Forum. Capitol FFA brought home two awards in Nursery & Landscape, with the team achieving Silver Emblem honors and Eduardo Fonseca-Loyola capturing the top prize with a Gold Emblem.

The 97th annual National Convention, which began Oct. 23 and continues through Oct. 26, gathered over 70,000 FFA members, advisors, and guests from across the country. FFA officials report that this year’s convention is the largest in FFA history, breaking all previous attendance records.

Hats off to all the hardworking FFA teams and individuals. Nevada commends you for your dedication, commitment, and for helping shape the future of the Silver State’s agricultural community.
